The EAMES and their influence on information design projects
What stood out to me from Charles & Ray Eames' films was the lack of extra & unnecessary information (imagery, voice over or text). And the overall presentation was aesthetically pleasing. As a young child, I watched Sesame Street. Since the Eames' films were integral with Children's Television Workshop (Sesame Street), their films were a part of my visual vocabulary before I was even aware of it. For the timeline on WWI & WWII Propaganda, we decided to focus on the imagery of the propaganda posters. Arranging them in a way that will present information with minimal necessary text. Much like the Eames' educational short films, it is up to the viewer to look/watch & soak in the information instead of being told through verbal/text.
Final Project: Group, Subject, Title; Summary Progress; Research
Group overview:

Danielle Miller
Megan Nichols
World War I/II Propaganda -
For our Final group project our group is focused on covering examples from Print media propaganda used during World War I and II. Also we are covering propaganda created by all Countries involved in the wars. We have decided to create a 'flag' image as the background for our timeline piece, with the focus being on the posters created. We plan using the American Flag and on the opposing Side using a compilation of two flag forms representing the two other countries. As far as the mapping and 3rd project we do not have a set idea yet we are still gathering our research and trying to decide what the best mode of representing the additional information is.
An updated version:
Michelle did the mapping portion as an interactive website, comparing propaganda & women's suffrage in the U.S.A. & Britain. Megan created playing cards featuring our chosen artist, James Montgomery Flagg. Amanda & I collaborated with research & creating the flag & poster timeline. (We had some difficulty in locating propaganda posters with full artist & date information for countries other than the U.S.A. Per Joseph's approval we were able to concentrate on the visual information given by the timeline.)

Updated Midterm Idea
Timeline showing artistic & other influences on Walt Disney feature length animated films. For example with Sleeping Beauty's backgrounds, medieval tapestries and paintings provided depth even with a stylistic flatness.

Midterm Idea
For my midterm timeline I have more than one idea & currently unsure which direction to pursue. I'd like to show the progression of impressionist paintings with individual artist's brush strokes (including other art/events that were occurring at the same time).
Or a comparison of impressionist paintings w/Art Nouveau. Personal favorites/influences on my preference in art aesthetics: Claude Monet, Mary Cassatt, Louis Comfort Tiffany & Alphonse Mucha.
